Metro Coffee Table

How do you find this coffee table?
I found it today. The company, PlushPod calls it a Metro Coffee Table.
Craig Varterian is the designer behind this coffee table.
He describes this table as the following, “Metro Coffee Tables are modern, elegant, and design savvy modern coffee tables that define the essence of present day modern home furniture.”
Design
What do you think of the design of this coffee table?
I love the BIG space in the center. You can stack your magazines in the center. Or pretty much anything can be stuffed there.
By the way, the top of the table is made of exotic Yompa wood.(Yompa is a type of ash from Laos. The wood is hard and remain pristine with little maintenance. For more information about Yompa. Click here).
A good blend of functions and design. It comes in only espresso finish.
Things to Note
The dimensions of this coffee table is 35.5″(90 cm) wide x 15.5″(40 cm) deep x 17.5″(44 cm) high. Its available for $350, which is a bit expensive.
You need to get your hands dirty a bit. A little bit of assembly of the coffee table legs is required.
By the way, the company selling the Metro Coffee Table says this is an oversized coffee table. But they do offer to split the shipping cost with you. If you are interested, take a look here.

It is a lovely table. I like it because of the curved edges (my head had few meetings with the sharp edges of the tables when I was a child). But I’m not sure about the wood. I do not like exotic wood. There is no assurance that the table do not help to destroy the world´s rain forests.

True…If I can afford a higher priced product which has been harvested from replanted trees rather than a virgin forest I would definitely do so.
Um…I wonder if Ax will know more about how to find out if the wood is not from an ancient forest.*hint hint*
BUT…I think this will be really hard.
How can we know? I don’t think I can check by species, for example, even spruce might be from a forest, not a plantation. As for exotic wood like teak or cherry or mahagony…are they grown from plantations?
The difficulty in switching to plantation wood is that slower growing wood like teak or cherry, mahagony, etc. have unique features like durabiliy. Like we use teak on a ship’s railings. It’s hard to find a better replacement.
